Kung Fu
The martial arts applications of Tai Chi are regarded as a form of Kung Fu and this is what we train in our Kung Fu classes at Paignton Tai Chi Studio.

Focusing on relaxation, accuracy and speed of movement rather than physical strength, our style is an excellent form of martial art training for people of all sizes and ages.

Our style includes:
Evasion, striking, kicking, blocks/parries, joint locking and take-downs/throws.
All of these are taught within the context of Tai Chi training, retaining the emphasis on relaxation at all times.

Kung Fu classes at Paignton Tai Chi studio are less formal than many martial arts classes with the focus being on understanding the techniques and providing all students with the opportunities to develop their skills at their own pace. The classes are more physically demanding than our other more health-oriented classes and do involve a level of physical contact between students.

There is a structured grading system in place for students who wish to measure their progress through gradings.

Pushing Hands

Currently, Paignton Tai Chi Studio is not holding formal Kung Fu classes - if you are interested in training this art, please contact Conrad to discuss options.
Instead, there is a half-hour session of Pushing Hands training which follows immediately after the Wednesday evening Tai Chi class.  This gives an opportunity for students to explore this fascinating exercise which provides a bridge from the more health oriented Tai Chi training into the martial skills.
The Push Hands sessions run from 7.30pm to 8pm on Wednesday evenings and cost £4 per session.
