Tai Chi
Widely known for its health and relaxation benefits, Tai Chi is a system of exercise based on relaxed movement. Tai Chi (also known as Taiji, Tai Chi Chuan or Taijiquan) was originally devised as a Martial Art relying on relaxation and softness rather than physical strength. For most people, the idea of Tai Chi brings to mind images of people performing a sequence of flowing movements in a park in China, early in the morning.  
 
The focus on relaxation led to considerable health benefits for students of Tai Chi and as a result, the health benefits have become the main focus for most people who practice Tai Chi. 

Tai Chi classes at Paignton Tai Chi Studio focus on the health and relaxation aspects of Tai Chi training. In our classes, we learn the Lee Family Style Tai Chi Form alongside Qigong breathing exercises and other exercises designed to improve our Tai Chi practice. 
Individually tailored teaching is provided to help students understand the movements in order to get the maximum amount of benefit.

There have been many studies into the health benefits of Tai Chi and these have been shown to include helping with: 
High blood pressure, heart disease, pain relief (including some arthritic pain), depression, anxiety. 
Tai Chi has also been shown to: 
Reduce stress levels, improve muscle condition and to help with balance and general mobility. 
Tai Chi focuses on relaxed, natural movement and therefore is an excellent form of exercise for everybody, regardless of age and physical fitness.
